Gene Retske is a respected telecommunications authority, with over 40 years of experience starting with Southern Bell. He had a long and distinguished career in telecommunications which included a major role in the opening of world wide telecommunications competition. He has written three books on telecommunications which are available in bookstores and on Amazon. He has also written over a thousand articles, published in Newsweek, major telecom publications and The Prepaid Press, where he served as Editor-In-Chief. He retired, and was subsequently a principal in the founding of the American PrePaid Phonecall Association and served as its Executive Director until his second retirement in 2014.
In addition to his telecom experience, Gene Retske served in the South Carolina State Guard as the Assistant Chief of Staff – Communications & Electronics with the rank of Colonel. He was awarded the Distinguished Service medal among other honors.
